Lower/upper field vs Field A/B

I've read a lot of messages referring to Lower Field First, but my VS7 SE uses the terminology Field A and B. Field A first seems to be the default for DVD formats. Is field A the lower field?

In media studio Pro it was changed to:

Changed Field Order A to Lower Field First and Field Order B to Upper Field First

Generally (not always 100%) DV Devices=Lower Field Anolog Cature card= Upper field
