Tool Bar/Workspace/EP Questions

Post by Simonsnanna »

I actually have three items I need help with. My os is Windows XP-Home and I have Nova PI Pro, V. 10. I've checked help and the manual and cannot find answers for them...

I customized my workspace and I'd like to know if there is a way to "lock" the tool/attributes bars. Sometimes when I'm in a hurry, I don't take my finger off the mouse button in time and I accidentally move some of the tools. I like the way I have it set up and would like to prevent myself from accidentally moving things around. Is there a way to do this?

In the print preview, one of the options there is to have the title of the document printed at the top of the page. I would like to turn this feature off forever. I can't think of a single instance when I'd want to print the title. Can this be permanently turned off so that I don't have to uncheck it every single time I use the printer? Sometimes I'd like to go straight to "print" but I can't because I know I have to uncheck this first.

I have several SMP files that I have added to my Easy Palette since I began using PI last year. I've never been able to keep them in there for more than a couple of months. They just vanish from the EP like they were never there and I have to "re-load" them. There are two in particular that I've had to "re-load" 8 times in the past couple of weeks. Apparently every time I close PI, it throws these two away. When I restart the program, I have to put them in there again. I thought at one time it may be because I had loaded too many, but it happens when I've only added two or three. Is it supposed to do that?

I would appreciate any help at all on any of these topics! :) Thanks!

I'm still not very familiar with PI 11, prefer PI 10.

There is an excellent user forum, dedicated to PI, here http://www.ezboard.com/

You will find answers to your questions there, and more. They also offer a free beginners workshop to learn PI.

NO, by default, they float or dock.

YES, under attribute named Settings, uncheck Title. To permanently disable, delete &f, no default will restore this action.

You can only add to My Gallery or My Library.

Yes, I know that by default, they float or dock--I'm aware of that. What I wanted to know is if they can be locked. Apparently, they cannot.

I did as you suggested in the print preview, i.e., deleting the &f, to permanently disable..."no default will restore this action." Not true, I'm afraid. Unchecked the title box, as I do all the time. Nothing was affected. The next time I went to print preview, on a different document, (even the next time I opened PI), the box was checked and "&f" was in the line again.

"You can only add to My Gallery or My Library." That's not entirely true, either. I've added several SMPs (that I've downloaded) to the EP and they go under "Image Enhancements", not My Gallery. If I make something myself, it will go into My Gallery or My Library.

Thank you for your response and your attempt to help--I do appreciate it.

You must understand one thing also. The NOVA product, whilst being based on ULEAD PI does not exactly work like PI as a stand alone program.

NOVA recompile the PI core and add some of their own functionality to it.

Unless we have someone here who knows the NOVA product and wants to help, I don't think that we can be of much help to you. This is, after all, a ULEAD PI support forum, not a NOVA one. Sorry.

Barb,

Sorry, if I confused you, I should have been more specific. “NO, by default they float or dock,” which means NO the Toolbars, Menus, and Palettes do not lock in place. At least not in PI.

While you are using the Print Preview, deleting the &f is permanent and cannot be restored unless you type the &f in the dialog box. Yes as a default the Tile and &f are restored when PI reboots. PI’s cfg files are binary and cannot be altered. Therefore, in your case it will not be a permanent deletion.

Yes all of the stuff you create goes to the My Gallery or My Library. It may occur that PI does not record the actions you add or download and they disappear on reboot. Normally this does not happen, and usually indicates you have a faulty download, installation, damaged registry, or file, a newly downloaded activeX control maybe interfering. Reinstallation usually solves the problem, however, not always especially when a third party element is interfering, such as Anti-Virus, Firewall, or other software package.

As Heinz notes, you might be able to get the required support you seek from Nova, the company whom wrote your software.
