Out Of Sync, OOS _)I_)(^%&3

I am having the classic audio sync issue when taking an MPEG (MPEG2 video, audio sampled at 48000Hz 16bit) and adding it to a project in VS8.0 with a menu that contains no audio. The beginning of the video is ok... but it gradually gets out of sync so that when you reach 45m, it's about 3-5s out of sync.

For nearly a YEAR I have tried several programs...$$ Pinnaclesys' Studio 9 to Ulead MSP8 and several 'try before you buy' demo programs. ALL have produced the seemingly universal OOS condition cited. It doesn't matter the capture mode... AVI.. Mpeg.. the immedite playback is ALWAYS the same awith ANALOG (VHS Tape) Capture. The audio progressively lags the video. Not so with DIGITAL (DVD source), no lag of audio.

I have plenty of horse power "under the hood" of this computer. Athlon 2800XP, large DMA 100 HDs, SB audio card, etc. I am using the Pinnaclesys capture card.

Until something can be done about this OOS of analog captures I am resigned to abandon the efffort.

It is strange that the VCR to DVD recorder I just bought can copy a VHS tape without the OOS lag and NONE of the computer programs can do this! Do we have some copyrighted thing fighting us here?

Call me disgusted!

Hi All

The problems relating to VS 8 and OOS was explained in this posting.

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0

I found that by not using Smart Render cured my problem.

The introduction of the latest ‘Burner Update’ has been reported to have also cured the OOS in VS8.

http://www.ulead.co.uk/download/download.htm

The above seems to have cured most but not all of the problems and is related to software problems.

The OOS problem above only being apparent after burning, after multiplexing.
The condition being viewed after making a Dvd folder (TS folder).

If you are having problems with OOS immediately after capture within your project then it may be a hardware problem. It certainly is not the OOS that we all love to hate.

If this is the case start a new posting, after all this one has just had its first anniversary.

Un-quote.

The problem relating to VS8 OOS would have affected the digital source, as the fault occurred after creating the Mpegs. Again I would suspect the capture cards especially as you have had problems with many software packages.

All the Best with your OOS

I burned my movie with Nero and that worked perfectly. I wanted better menu features so I tried Ulead DVD Workshop 2. The sound gradually went out of sync! ( And I checked the option "Convert to disc template".) Ulead appears to have a serious problem.

What I don't get is why the mpeg2 files play fine with Media Player, but the DVDs come out with audio out of synch! Why isn't there a simple solution to this?!

Hi Raphael

Your comments start alarm bells ring again.

They say Video Studio 8
What is the frame redundancy bug
Smart render
Latest burner update.

Please read:--

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0

What you describe is exactly the problems that a lot had when using VS 8.

The OOS is only seen after multiplexing, this process takes place in the burner stage when making a disc or TS folder.
Unfortunately the Mpeg files are already corrupt even though they play ok on media player.

Solution:-

Do not use Smart Render at all.

It has been reported that installing the latest ‘burner update’ cured the problem.
Up-grade to VS 9.

What you describe looks to me like the the frame redundancy bug.

Guys,

There is definitely some bug in the Ulead encoder. I was forced to use Nero to author my DVDs bcs of this problem. Man, when will they see the light??

Hi Trevor.

Well, I am using VS 9 and still have this problem :(

Moreover, Roxio Media Creator 7 also has the same problem!

If media player can play them fine, why can't they be burned on a DVD without a problem? Does Microsoft have a solution to this?

Is Smart Render option used when I "Save Trimmed Video" or is it an option during DVD burning? If it's the first, that means I have to redo all of my edits! I already saved dozens of trimmed video clips and put them together for the final movie that I am trying to burn on a DVD. I spent so much time doing that! It would really suck if I had to do it all over again!!!

Why hasn't this bug been fixed for what seems to be more than a year!

So are you saying that you were able to burn a DVD from the MPEG2 files produced by Ulead with "smart render" option with Nero without the audo lag? Which version of Nero did you use and what is the exact name of the program?

When I had VS8 installed a while back I had hit and miss problems with the OOS problem. My experiments with VS8 are as listed.

1. The Original (Boxed Version) of VS8 didn't have problems with OOS.
2. The VideoStudio 8 SE Update Pack (Build Number: 8.01, Release Date: 2004/10/22) caused OOS problems
3. The burning patches that only replaced dll files (there were 3 updates) caused OOS problems.
4. The 16X DVD Burning Pack (Release Date: 2004/11/18) caused OOS problem.
5. CD/DVD burning patch CD/DVD Burning Pack (Version: 3.6.19 .281, Release Date: 2005/07/27) seemed to solved the OOS problem.

The last time I used VS8 with the latest burning pack produced in sync DVDs.

As stated before there was some kind of problem when the file was multi-plexed for inclusion in a DVD.

The oribinal Video Studio 9 had OOS problems if multi-trim was used and over three cuts were made to the video file . It also corrupted the output file to the point it was unusable. Multi trim had to be kept to two cuts and create a file and then open the created file to edit.

The latest update to VS9 seems to have corrected the problems. I haven't had any problems latley.

tyamada:

I installed burning engine update ulead_burning3619281_pack.exe but still have OOS problems.

I also tried to install the VS 9 update UVS9Full_Patch1_5in1.exe, but when I run it, it tells me "Cannot find Video Studio 9.0 on your system, even though it is installed in the standard place: C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0

When I go to Help->About, the version of VS I have is 9.00.100. Is this the one you're using?

rpungin:

Are you using the VS9 trial, if you are the update will not install. My updated VS9 is Version 9.01.1000.

If you installed the CD/DVD burning patch on your system with VS9 installed you over wrote the VS9 burning engine which is later than the 3619281 patch.

If you are using VS9 you should reinstall it because the burning engine is not the correct one for VS9.

All of the Uled products that burn to CD/DVD use the same basic software to create CD/DVD that is why they share the same problems.

Hi Raphael,

The mpeg file was captured by a friend but I don't know what software or hardware he used. My aim was to author a DVD of the movie. I used NeroVision Express 3 to make the first DVD. This worked well (no audio sync problem) but because I wanted more control over menus, etc., I authored the file a second time with Ulead DVD Worhshop 2. This produced a very good looking DVD, but it had the sync problem.

Regards,
David.

hi all

i just bought the hardware and software for video studio 10. i have a lot of vhs tapes i want to put onto the harddrive. i am not trying anything ambitious (like editing) - i just want a straight copy of the video on the computer. the OOS problem surfaced immediately and i have been fiddling with the software for the last week to try and fix it.

reading the above comments it seems to me i should simply seek out a copy of vs7 and install it instead of vs10. thats what im going to do unless anyone has a suggestion that doesnt involve going heavily into the technical side of things...

cheers

Hi David, and welcome to the forums!

While we'd like to help, you don't give us anything to go on except VS10 and VHS tapes. How are you trying to capture them -- which device are you using and how is it connected to your computer? What format were you capturing in? And did VS10 come with the device -- I mean, is that the 'hardware' you refer to? If so, then it could be that VS10 has been tweaked to only work with that device and getting VS7 might not change the situation -- indeed it may not even work...

When you say the out of sync problem appeared immediately, when was that -- during capture? During playback of the captured files? Or only when you were rendering a new DVD-compatible mpeg-2 (Share > Create Video File > DVD)?

And what are your computer specifications? (If you think you might come back here for other assistance, you might want to fill in your System button details.)
