Picture-in-Picture Video Quality Issue

Post by Chris0709 »

I am having a picture quality problem with a picture-in-picture effect I am doing. The pip is in the lower right hand corner and the video in the pip looks low res with a lot of jaggy edges around the objects in the video. The original source video was imported form a DVCam pro tape with lower field first dominance. I'm assuming this has something to do with the interlacing, but do not know what is the best solution for the problem. The final edited video will be about 8 mins upon completion, but the pips only happen in about 3 or 4 places for less than 10 seconds each. The final product will be rendered back to DV avi for output back to DVCam tape, to MPEG-II for output to DVD, and to Mpeg-I for inclusion on a CD-Rom. Anybody have any suggestions? Much appreciated, below are the specs of my system.

Running MediaStudio Pro on a 64-bit Athelon processor with 1GB of Ram with Windows XP. I am running MediaStudio 8.0 with SP1.

Also try to stick to the aspect ratio, as this can have an efect on display quality.

Also, apply a blur if your footage is dropping below a quarter of the size of the source video i.e. if the horizontal resolution drops below 360, and vertical below 288 [PAL] or 240 [NTSC].
