Video Studio and DVD MovieFactory, Capture, edit, burn

Post by DADSGETNDOWN »

Hello, Maybe going to disect this small Paragraph I see at this page of the Learning Center, http://www.ulead.com/learning/video7/page1.htm
Which reads.
Some great Ulead software that is designed for capturing and editing video is VideoStudio and MediaStudio Pro. If you want to put your video onto DVDs or Video CDs, then check out DVD MovieFactory
My questions are.
(1) Does either Video Studio 9 OR Dvd MovieFactory do a better job or have better codecs or whatever than the other?

(2) It says capturing and editing is VS and MS Pro, If you want to put your video onto DVDs or Video CDs use DVD MovieFactory.
I then come up with questions. WHY?. if they both do the same thing would I use VS to Capture and edit then DVD MF to burn DVD or Video CDs ?

(3) I see a small price difference but me being a EXTREME Noob amateur
am not seeing why? :?

This will be Mostly used with a Panasonic DV Camcorder on wee bit older computers.

You are on the right track with your point 2. VS and MSP are, what is called NLE's, non linear editors. These allow you to edit your video, add transistions, titles, narrations and do fancy overlay work with the underlaying video. Whilst they do have the possibility to create DVD compliant mpeg files and burn these to disk, the authoring of the DVD menus etc. is rather rudimentary.

MF on the other hand allows some basic editing, but nothing too fancy. You can, however, create a better DVD menu structure with it.
