When I purchased Video Studio 10 I accidently purchased the downloadable version instead of the box version. Anyway, when I download the Extra Content file the icon for the file looks like a little sheet of paper with the top right corner folded over and a little window inside. When I double-click on it it brings up the "open with" box and asks me what I want to open the file with. I have know idea. Everything I tried didn't work. Anyone else have the same problem. I have sent customer service an email but I have not heard a reply.
Thanks for any help as I can't use the Extra Contents unless I open the file.

Hi Rjneuzel,
What is the file extension to the file? Is it .zip, or an .exe?
If you have winzip or winrar you can right-click on it and select Extract Files. This will unpack the file, then you should see a Setup file. Try clicking on that to see if it will install.

vidoman,
Thanks for the reply.
I tried what you said. Still didn't work. I have enclosed a link to what I see. I can't tell if it is an exe or winzip file but if I had to guess I would say exe.

please take a look at the link, which is a screenshot of the folder. Any help would be appriciated.

I seem to recall, when VS10 first appeared, there were one or two people who found that their downloads were .rar files and they didn't have a copy of WinRAR. I don't know why Ulead or whoever, had chosen .rar (even though I love it!). WinZip won't open .rar files, though WinRAR will open WinZip files!
rjneuzel: go to http://www.rarlab.com/ and download their trial version of WinRAR (top of the home page) and see if that works.

Thanks I will try and download the rar when I get home from work tonight. I finally heard back from tech support. They gave me a ftp link to directly download the file. After downloading it and running it I keep getting an error saying the file is corrupt and to try and download it again. Very frustrating. Sure wish I had the box version. I am going to try and get off work a little early so that I can make it before 4:30pm and call them. Easier said than done.
The file I downloaded from them was an exe file.
Anyone have any advise for me?
frustrated,

One other thing that you might investigate...
When I first purchased VS9 ESD, I was getting a constant corrupt error on the downloads. I thought it was of course the file(s) being downloaded. I would get CRC errors while trying to install. Long story shorter... My system would suddenly reboot, and I had a crash while using a different program. I then ran a RAM test, and found I had a faulty RAM card. After replacing it I no longer received the Corrupt errors...
Might be something worth investigating... Oh and BTW, my RAM was fairly new. Also several years ago on a new Gateway I had a Harddrive fail after having it for less then 60 days, so newness in computers does not mean it's good...

Well I downloaded the RAR and tried that. Didn't work. I left work early so that I could call customer support. Got a guy at 5:20pm. Told him my problem he said I shouldn't of had a problem. Yea, I know that. He said he would send me an email of a link to try it again. About 30 minutes later I got an email but it was to the full version and not the Extra Content download. The download he gave me was 133MB not the 297MB I needed. I'm outta options. I am going to leave work early again tomorrow and ask for either a full refund or for them to send me the box version. I hope they understand. I really want the program but downloading it has been a really pain.
Any more advise for me?
Thanks for everyones help.
