VS10+ - Joining Clips
According to the User Manual (in section Split by Scene), I should be able to join any number of clips into one - "Simply select all the scenes that you want to join together and click Join." I cannot find any "Join" to click. I am new to this so it may well be right in front of my eyes. Thanks for any help.

Firstly take a look at the Tutorial
From Camcorder To DVD I am still working on parts of it but this particular section has been completed.
In Part 3 you will find

OK here I am splitting clips so this picture may not be that clear, but look closely and you will see "Join". to use this you click a clip to be joined to the one preceding it and then click the join button.

You should have a thumbnail of your video somewhere even if in the default video library.
In the tutorial I suggest using the Library Manager to create a separate library for all clips appertaining to a particular project. You can do that at any time - its not compulsory - just a piece of practical advice to keep things organised and tidy.

I have a question re joining. Can you only rejoin clips that physically reside next to one another in the original clip? I have a situation where the old analog video recorder was on the fritz and kept cutting out. In editing I want to cut out the garbage it left between good clips. It did this twenty times in 3 minutes. that leaves me with twenty small clips I would like to treat as one. Is that asking the impossible? I thought I might need to possibley make separate projects then put them back together. I am looking for the simplest method as I have a few more of these things in fornt me.
Your turtorial was very eye opening.

Carol,
Take a look at what us 'old uns' had to do a few years ago!
