that 18 bucks ulead studio8.0 has arrived. Box sealed in the original ulead sticker. great product. although it seems too slow to quick playback your video when you did a little change.
overall, i love this product. (falls nearly in the prosumer category)
that sticker on the box is the 17 dollar mail-in rebate. i have no idea why i got this software for so cheap. thank you guys for checking this out for me.
i test edited a video clip of me playing the guitar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zqov23Tp1c
my system is super slow so i can't play back to check each session after putting the clips together. can't play with ulead too much until i upgrade my system.
you guys are very helpful here and i'll try to contribute to this community in the future.
my Ulead videostudio has arrived!!!!

Had a look at your test edit and it looks good.
Not sure why your playback should be so slow. I originally used VS7 then 8 on a Dell laptop I still have which is only a Pentium III 1 GHZ and with 512MB of RAM and at that time running Windows ME, and it played back my projects just fine. In File > Preferences, have you got it set for Instant Playback or High Quality Playback? The latter will slow things down considerably since it in effect prepares a rendered version of the project, and this takes times.
The only other thing I can think of is that you are using Project mode for playback but may have other programs running in the background. You should close everything unnecessary down which plays in the background. And make sure your hard drives are regularly defragmented. Both these things can speed things up quite a bit. Project playback mode can be a bit slow to start, though, and can be jerky if all the computer resources are not being devoted to it.
But as others have already told you on your other thread, when you do eventually upgrade to a better computer, you should also seriously think about upgrading to VS10. It is miles better than VS8, which was quite a problematical version on a number of fronts.

Hi Shredder,
Great to see you got it and it is working for you
I also took a look at your video, looks good, and you have superb taste in guitars.
I used to play a Les, a 1972 Deluxe, with a Marshall half-stack (that's partly why I wear hearing aids now
)
Having only 256mb RAM is why the slowness. WinXP does good to function with that little bit of RAM. So you will find as Ken stated that VS10+ with an upgraded system, will be miles ahead of VS8.
Good Luck and keep shredding that axe...

Ron,
thanks for checking that out for me when i bought it on Ebay. you guys have been extremely helpful.
Yeah, i'm a Gibson addict. 1972 delux with marshall!!! wow, that'll be my dream gig.
i currently have a 86 tobacco burst standard and a 2001 wine red custom. one reason i'm learning video production now is that i want to shoot more videos with my 2 Lester babies.
Ken, thanks! i think i'm using instant playback now so the problem must be the ram.
