Bug with VCD/DVD Disc Image Recorder?

Post by exbadger2 »

I just install VS10+. When I go to burn an iso image with VCD/DVD Disc Image Recorder, I only get two choices for speed: Max & 16X. Also, the option to enable buffer under run protection is greyed out. I want to burn at 4X to maximize compatibility. Is this a known issue with VCD/DVD Disk Image Recorder? Any solutions this besides using another burner program?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

Try going to My Computer then right click on your DVD burner and select Properties. Then in the Properties Dialogue box that opens, click on the Recording Tab. There should be a pull-down menu at the bottom to change the burning speed of the burner.

Changing this might allow a slower option when burning in VS.

In addition to Ron's suggestion go to the website of your DVD Burner's manufacturer and make sure you are running the latest firmware for your burner. The write speeds shown for most programs are determined by the burner firmware, not the software you are using. It is the burner's firmware that is identifying the DVD media you are using and putting out the optoin accordingly. If it does not have a "write strategy" for that particular make of media you may get strange or limited choices.

Thanks to both for your suggestions. Unfortunately, neither worked. My DVD writer came installed with my HP computer. The properties for the DVD writer has no recording tab! Strangley enough, the properties tab thinks it is a DVD ROM, even though it burns just fine! HP had no updates for the firmware and I was able to track the DVD writer back to the manufacturer (Samsung) based on the model number and they had no updates posted either. Alas, it looks like I am off to find a separate burning program. Thanks again.

Your DVD writer needs to be installed into a computer.
According to your system specifications you don't have one

I also am using an HP computer, a Pavilion a530n. However the burner is a combo burner for DVD and CD-ROM.
