I can no longer use Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3.5 Suite Deluxe to output to a DVD.
I have 7 .avi files created by downloading from a Panasonic DV camera (using the Panasonic software - although I doubt it makes any difference what software was used - they can be played by Windows Media Player and Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3.5 Suite Deluxe - albeit very jerkily).
Actually I have merged several input files, but using the same Panasonic software - reading .avi and writing .avi
I open Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3.5 Suite Deluxe and input the 7 files.
I select output to DVD.
I get this error message
Visual Studio Just-In_Time Debugger
An unhandled win32 exception occurred in DVDMF.exe [3500]. Just-In-Time debugging this exception failed with the following error: No installed debugger has Just-In-Time debugging enabled. In Visual Studio, Just-In-Time debugging can be enabled from Tools/Options/Debugging/Just-In-Time.
Check the documentation index for 'Just-In-Time debugging, errors' for more information.
I have unistalled Microsoft Visual Web Developer, so where does this message come from ?
I have deleted a lot of programs (including VWD) to clear up space on the C: drive and Ulead does NOT report insufficient space. I have also reinstalled Ulead Movie Factory 3.5
In the past, I have created DVDs OK.
I have made one which only plays on the PC. (How this occurred is beyond me.)
But I have also created several which play on a stand-alone player.
I just want to repeat the process and get a stand-alone DVD, but I can't get past first base.
Why do I now get errors?
Can someone - please, please - give me step by step instructions on how to take 5 .avi files and create from them a DVD which I can play on my DVD player.
I will be so happy if this happens
Ulead Movie Factory 3.5 fails to write to DVD

Yes, it is.
The difference now is that I have cleaned up my C: drive (including removal of EWD) to make sure that space is not a problem.
And the result is that it still won't create any DVD, be it one that plays on the PC or not.
Nothing I tried makes ay difference, so I thought I would repost in the hope of getting some answers that work.
My impression now is that this Ulead program is non-opertaional - it just doesn't work. If someone can give me information that makes me think differently, then great.

Visual Web Designer is a lite version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 for web programmers, it also includes a Just-in-Time debugger for developers to track problems and issues with a program, especially when a program is crashed. Although you have uninstalled it, it seems the JIT debugger is still in the system.
I think something is wrong in your system to cause DVDMF to crash. Do you install any codec packs in your system? And, what DV codec is used with those 7 AVI files?

Do I need the JIT debugger?
If not, how can I deinstall it?
After all, I did remove Visual Web Designer using Add/Remove programs in Windows XP.
(I am happy to amend the registry if that is what is needed)

I wish I knew what !!

I doubt that I installed any codec packs. I would remember I think. In fact, I don't know where codecs are stored in the system or even how they are used.
How would I uninstall any that I don't need, or are damaging to the system?
> And, what DV codec is used with those 7 AVI files?
Gspot Codec Information Appliance gave
Codec 4CC
Name DVC/DV Video

I hope you or someone can respond with answers that solve this problem.
My wife says "You did it before. Why can't you do it again?" And I don't know the answer to this question (which husbands must know, of course, especially if their career was in programming - as mine was).
Thank you.

For removing it, you need to check http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/suppo ... fault.aspx and see if it helps.
It depends on what codec packs installed. You can use some codec detection tools like Microsoft Codec Checker Utility, Sherlock or AVICodec to check.Trevor L. wrote: > Do you install any codec packs in your system?

Microsoft Codec Checker:

Sherlock - The codec detective:

AVICodec:

Microsoft DV AVI codec is preferred for DV AVI videos for better software compatibility.Trevor L. wrote: > And, what DV codec is used with those 7 AVI files?

I remember Panasonic DV codec pack might work with Ulead but still MS DV codec is suggested.
Panasonic DV codec:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Pan ... _Codec.htm
Microsoft DV codec is pre-installed in Windows XP.
DVC as I know might be Pinnacle related and might be editable with Pinnacle products only. You might need to use some other video converting tool to transcode the DV AVI to another DV codec.
Some information about AVI codec packs:

I just wish I can help.Trevor L. wrote: > A little busy these days, sorry if I cannot response to you immediately
