Here is what I have found so far.
The following is a list of filters in DirectX:
And here is the list of DMO(DirectX Media Objects) plugins currently
included with DX9:
- Echo
- Gargle
- Distortion
- Waves Reverb
- I3DL2 Reverb
- Chorus
- Flanger
- Compressor
- ParamEQ
These do no show up in VB_Plugman. Since they are a part of DirectX there is no way to re-install just these.
The DxDiag shows the dll for these filters dsdmo.dll in system32.
MSP7 shows these, MSP8 does not.

I asked this question a while back and nobody answered it. I'm glad you are getting a good response.
I had the exact same experience, but I believe (am not positive) that I saw the directx audio filters after I purchased the MSP8 upgrade. But I had a glitch in the DD 5.1 and was told by Cust. Support to reinstall everything. I did, and no more DirectX audio filters.
I don't know why they were there before and why they are gone now.
I'll try your links and see how that works. I still just think this is weird. I completely understand that there are 3rd party plug-ins and you have to pay for those. But I never paid for anything...the filters were there, and then they weren't.
Anyway, good luck.
