Audio Filters missing

Post by mneumann »

I had a trial version of MSP 8 installed and had several Audio filters available like Equalizer and so on. Now I have installed the full version and these audio filters are missing. Everything is limited to very rudimentary staff. Who has an idea what could be the problem, and how to get these audio filters back?

Did you install the service pack? If not download it from Uleads support side and install it. This should help.

Yes, I just tried installing the Service pack and there is no difference. I think the audio filters that are missing now were DirectX filters. What filters of this type come normally preinstalled with the program?

Yes, that link is interesting, but does not have what I am looking for. I need to know what kind of filters I am supposed to have. If there should be DirectX filters included that I am missing, how do I get them.

I found out part of the story now. The audio filters I am looking for are there if I install the MSP 7 Trial version. They are DirectX filters, but the appear only in MSP 7. I need for example the parametic Equalizer, and in MSP 8 I dont find that. Is there any way to get the directX filters from MSP 7 to work on MSP 8 as well?

Most DirectX audio filters are not from MSP and are third party filters from some video / audio products of other companies like Cakewalk.

Any video / audio products you have installed when you install MSP 7 trial?

No, I have no Audio Software except of Audacity on my computer. And the DirectX filters I am mentioning are appearing only in MSP7. I cant see them in MSP8 and they dont seemed to be registered in DirectX. But in MSP7 they appear as DirectX filters. I just wonder where they are and how they can be transfered to MSP8. Or how can I get anything like an Equalizer working in MSP8? I think that is a pretty basic editing technique and should be actually included in MSP. Or is it really just me who does not get them to work? It would be nice to have a list of filters that should install by default to check whether I am missing something.

Here's what I came up with in my MSP8. I don't recall adding any additional filters...
  • Amplify
  • Echo
  • Fade
  • Fill Left
  • Fill Right
  • Long Echo
  • Long Repeat
  • Normalize
  • Pan
  • Pitch Shift
  • Quantize
  • Remove Noise
  • Resonance
  • Reverb
  • Stadium
  • Vocal Reduction
  • Volume Leveling

Thanks a lot for the list. I guess this is what I am getting as well. Interestingly in MSP7 there were more, and they are taking out now. That is a very strange move that I dont quite understand. Why would you remove something useful like that when making an upgrade? And some kind of equalizer functions is something quite essential when you speak about Audio editing. I wonder how it came they are not here anymore. If anybody has a good solution for this problem, I would be interested.

I solved my problem with downloading some VST Plugins.
Here some useful links:

www.tone2.com
www.Audiose.com
www.voxengo.com/freevst

Simply drag the plugins in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8.0\aft_plug\VST

And voila! They are working!!!

I seem to have the same problem. No DirectX filters (Note the ParamEq filter seems to be part of the OS). I can try to use the VST filters, but this seems odd. I have a new install (couple of days) with SP1
Both the User manual and Charlie Hills' Book list this feature.

I have PI11, VS9, MSP7 and 8 all installed on my laptop(DELL).
This seems to be the only problem :?:

Interestingly I can install new DirectX plugins, but the other ones that are showing up in MSP 7 are not found in MSP 8. And they are clearly listed as DirectX plugins. Very mysterious.

Well, there are DirectX plugins available for either download or purchase. You just install them like a program, and they should be available sytem wide. All programs supporting DirectX plugins, should have them available.
