Hi
I have some family video that I like to edit and burn on a dvd. not
sure what to select from the "Create Video Disc" under New project, I
have DVD, VCD, SVCD, DVD-VR.
I guess I can say that my options are DVD or DVD-VR. since it is not a
CD.

You need DVD.
VCD / SVCD and about a dozen other formats that date back to the days before the DVD disc where you could burn about a hours worth of video to a standard similar to VHS tapes on an ordinary CD Disc with an ordinary CD burner
DVD-VR is the format used by Standalone DVD recorders using re-writable discs so that they behave somewhat like a hard drive.
