VS10+ and Windows Media Player

Post by susanpin »

Sorry folks - I have read heaps of posts and am now TOTALLY lost.

I have a Canon DV Camera (730i) and I take videos of my dog clubs agility. I give the disks to the handlers and as I do this as a fund raiser for the clubs I don't charge - so I can't afford to burn 6 or 7 disks per person in the hope that one works!

I used to use VS9 and the resultant MPG file ran in everyones computer. I person doesn't have a computer so I burnt a VCD disk and that worked in her DVD player that is plugged into her TV.

So I upgraded to VS10 - now I have all sorts of problems.

First some computers asked for a codec - and some nice folks here helped out with the codec. It worked on some of the computers but one other computer now won't play any DVD's any more so I'm not game to tell people to upgrade codecs.

So as a result of that I thought I'd burn them all as SVCD that way (I thought) people could play them on their DVD attached to the TV or on their computer DVD (if they could play movies on the computer). Well some can and some can't - I'm getting real frustrated.

How can I burn the stupid things so that people can watch them. I capture them as DV-AVI, edit them, then save the file as SVCD then burn the disk.

What am I doing wrong - or should I simply ditch VS9, 10 or whatever and buy another program?
