menu creation

Post by devo_111111 »

I have a long, 2 hr, project. Should I import this as one big file from MSP 8 or in smaller chunks for each menu button? I want to have 6 menu selections.

Thanks... Ian

If it's one program, import one video file. Each title (program) on a DVD can have up to 99 chapters. And, you can have up to 99 titles. On a commercial DVD, the actual movie would be one title. An interview with the director, or a collection of deleted scenes could be a 2nd title.

Advance the video to the place you want the chapter to start, and click Add Chapter (If you don't advance the video first, the Add Chapter button will be grayed-out.)

I usually set my chapter points first. Then, create a menu and link the menu-buttons to chapters (or sub-menus). But, you can create a menu (with un-linked buttons) first, if you wish.

You don't need a menu-button for each chapter. Sometimes Ill put a chapter every 5 minutes or so without a menu at all. The viewer can use the >>| and |<< buttons on the remote to skip to the next chapter-point.

It might depend on how you want your DVD to play.

1) Do you want to viewer to hit a scene button, jump to that scene, and have it play trhough from that point until the end of the remaining "scenes" :?:

2) Or is it possible you might want the viewer to have an option of playing a certain scene, and then going back to a menu to make another selection :?:

3) Ability to play scenes in any order :?:

Perhaps a combination of 1, 2, and 3 :?:

Regards,
George

Well George I need flexibility.

I have a 2hr show of award presentations. I want people to be able to get as close to their child getting their award as closely as possible. Plus I have some extras.

Menu 1 Awards Extra 1 Extra 2

Menu 2 Girls Singles / Teams , Boys Singles / Teams

Menu 3 Bantams Juniors Seniors

You get the idea. But since I can't figure out why the audio from the Mpeg file I created in MSP 8 won't play in WS 2 but will play in MF 5. I think I'll try and figure out how to work MF.

It seems to me though that WS is more flexible than MF in what you can do. But I don't know that for sure yet.

If you want the movie to return to the menu then it needs to be a seperate avi/mpeg when brought into WS.

As for the audio, this may be obvious, but you did import the audio into the project, as it comes in seperately?

Well! I created one big video file, like DVDDoug suggested above. I then created and output an Mpeg compliant file from MSP 8. Then switching to WS 2 or MF 5 and importing the new file.

In WS 2 it has no audio and in MF 5 it does. This is the first time that a file I created in MSP 8 and then imported into WS 2 doesn't have audio. Now is it because of the audio format I used (I forget now but it's listed in an earlier post) or did I import it incorrectly. Well I did it the same way I always have done.

I've been working with it in MF 5 without any problem. Any ideas?
