Need Help

Post by 62cwil »

I have successfully today converted an 8 mil analog tape from start to finish with an acceptable outcome. I started with a Sony analog camcorder and ran required cable over to my Canon Mini-DV where I change my vcr setting to in vs out making it a pass thru camera and from their to computer via firewire. All steps went fine except I later want to go back and trin a little.

My Questions are as follows:

1. All of these movies were captured using DV-1 and ultimately burned to a DVD. In addition I save it as a project and created a video file. I want to add some more to the movie that I found on another tape. How can I take an existing project and add additional captured materials.

2. Now that I have done the above movies today I have a lot of thumbnails in the panel on the right. Can I delete them without effecting my existing projects. It is confusing to me to have an accumulation of previous movies thumbnails.

3. On all of the movies I did today It was one continious run from start to finish. Since I was in a hurray to produce for my daughter who was leaving I couldn't figure out how to cut out anthing since their was only one thumbnail on the timeline or storyboard when finished. I added music to them and in the burning process I put a title on the first page. Can I and if so how do I go thru and look at various parts of the video and eliminate a few bad spots.

As you can see it's late and I have looked and looked thru the manual and posts and can't seem to find answers to the above questions. Any helpy you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

1. Either just open up your project file again and just continue importing and inserting new material or start a new project and insert your video file to the timeline, then import your additional material and cut your original and insert or just add new material onto the end in the timeline.
Just continue as if you had just captured your edited file - no different procedures just do what you did before while importing additional material.

2. Yes you can safely delete the thumbnails in the library pane, click on them and choose delete then answer YES to the question about deleting the thumbnail but I would strongly recommend you say NO to the question about deleting the original clip. You can use standard windows selection methods to delete multiple thumbnails.

3. have a look at my website specifically at the page "Edit in Timeline" and see if that solves your editing problems.
