Audio does not match Video

Post by marshalab »

I have Sony HDR-HC3. Took baby video of birth and perinatal period. It looks great on the camera, played on tape. However, when brought in through Video Studio, there is a slight, but very important and annoying mismatch between the audio and the video. I have a nice computer AMD Athlon 64 x 2 dual core processor 4600 and 4 gb of ram, so I would think I have plenty of processing power. How can I bring my video in for editing with no mismatch between sound and video. Many thanks in advance.

AV mismatch

Post by marshalab »

Your reply is much appreciated. Not sure I got the gist of the recommended reading. However, I get the AV mismatch in captured video, before any editing is done. Does the article you refer to apply to edited video?

Thanks in Advance,

What exactly do you mean by "Video and Sound mismatch"? Is the sound out of sync? How do you cature the DV-AVI? Firewire or capture card? Which DV type, 1 or 2?

Yes, the sound is out of sync. I am using a firewire to capture video. How do I determine if I am using DV Type 1 or 2?

Thanks for your reponse Heiz---Marshal :)

What version of video studio are you using?

Dv-Type 1

After selecting DV as the capture format click the Options Cogwheel.
Here you can select the Dv type as 1.

Afaik the default is type 2, Once changed it remains as type 1 until you change it again

I have visual studio 10. Given that my source is " Sony- HDV", there does not seem to be "DV" as an option in the capture format. The only choice I have is "MPEG". Given this is the case, the only choice I have in the options cogwheel is the capture frame rate, the best I can see. Thanks Trevor. Hoping to get this baby video up and running in HD :)

If the sound is only out of sync after the burn to DVD, but looks in sync prior to that, then when you render your edited footage, disable the 'smart render' option and your sound and vision should remain in sync during the burn.

Unfortunately, it is out of sync before the burn to DVD. BTW, where would I find the "smart render" option, anyways? Thanks TDK 1044.

When you go to render, click on the options button and it's listed there along with 'render entire project' or 'preview range' etc.
