Beginner's tutorial

Post by lefty78312 »

I just finished my 30-day trial with VS-10 and expect to purchase it when it goes on special in a couple of weeks.

One major problem I've had is I've never done video editing before and I don't have a clue in the world what I'm doing. I load a video into VS-10 and then I'm lost. For example, I have a 5 minute and 31 second video I would like to trim; then kill about half of the soundtrack and insert a different audio track in approximately the last half of the video. The tutorials on the Ulead site presuppose that I have some idea what I'm doing, but I don't.

Are there any hold-your-hand absolute rank beginner tutorials that can help get me going? They don't have to be with my video. If there's a repository of practice videos I can work on, that's fine. I just want to know what to do after I load the video. I want to learn how to do cuts, pastes, dissolve transitions, etc.

BTW, I checked www.jonesgroup.net; they just have tutorials for importing videos and authoring. Nothing about editing.

I wholeheartedly agree with Terry that the getting-results books by
Charlie Hills - who incidentally is one of our forum members is extremely underpriced and easy to follow.

We also have our own Tutorial Section here where any forum member is free to join in and create "How to" guides for our members. There are several already and it is growing all of the time.
