Nicole,

You don't give much to go on :P

Let's start with -
By copied, how did you get the project onto the dvd? Did you author it and then burn as a dvd or did you just copy the files to the dvd?
1 would give you a advd which should play on a dvd player, the other is a data dvd which just stores info and doesn't play.

If this doesn't solve it -

Can you fill in your system specs in your profile?
Can you run through how you got to the point where you tried to make the dvd?
What file types you used, where they came from, how you edited?
Are you trying to make the dvd straight from the timeline?
Have you made an avi and tried to make a dvd from this?
Have you made dvd files and saved them to the computer instead of burning to disc? Did these work?
What settings did you use to make your dvd?
What sort of dvd is it?
Does it play in the pc and not the dvd player?
Or neither?

heh sorry

Well I just copy it to the Dvd, because when I get to finish it only has the options

-Create video file
-Create VCD
-Project Playback
-Export
-Create sound file
-save Project

and so I only go to save project to the dvd in the drive.

hmm lets see

Can you fill in your system specs in your profile?

>ill do that in just a moment

Can you run through how you got to the point where you tried to make the dvd?

>Well I completed my project, went to save project went to the drive were the dvd was and it said it saved.

What file types you used, where they came from, how you edited?

>jpg and wma

Are you trying to make the dvd straight from the timeline?

> yes I believe so

Have you made an avi and tried to make a dvd from this?

> no

Have you made dvd files and saved them to the computer instead of burning to disc? Did these work?

> not dvd files, data files, also when I tried to make my project into a data disk, just to play on someone elses computer, it does the same thing.

What settings did you use to make your dvd?

> didnt get that far

What sort of dvd is it?

> Dvd +R

Does it play in the pc and not the dvd player?

not on the dvd, but the data disk I made plays ONLY on my computer.

thank you

I haven't used such an old version of VS so hopefully someone will come along and tell you where you've gone wrong, but looking at those replies I suspect it is in the creation of the dvd at this stage

Well I completed my project, went to save project went to the drive were the dvd was and it said it saved.

Where it sounds like you have saved the project to the dvd disc and not made a dvd video.

How long in time is the movie?
How large is the file on the dvd?
How long did it take to make the dvd from when you clicked save or whatever? A proper dvd would go through nuymerous stages and an hours video would take several hours to make.

Maybe VS isn't recognising your dvd drive, check for any updates/patches, in particualr ones relating to dvd burning.

Hi

I have not used Version 6 but I would suspect that the work flow is the same for later versions.

1 / you capture your video
2 / you edit the project, adding images, audio etc.
3 / VS 6 uses a Finish step to Create a Video File.
This creates an Mpeg 2 file of your movie.
4 / you use the video file to burn a disc.

I am just reading the Finish Sep from the manual.

It may be best if you have a look.

Quote:-

To render a movie:
1. Click Create Video File in the Options Panel.
The Create Video dialog box appears.
2. Enter a file name for your movie. It will be
saved in the format specified in your project
template settings.
3. Click Save.

You need to check your Project Template Settings (Project Properties) to ensure they are correct.

Video Studio 6!!! You know, VS9 is very cheap now that VS10 has been released.

Does VS 6 even support DVD without a plug-in? You also said you "saved" your project to DVD  how exactly did you do that?

From what I read in your previous posts, one could be excused for thinking that you did, in fact, save the project file to DVD. Please explain, step by step, how you went about saving your file to DVD.

When you look at your DVD in Win Explorer, what do you see? AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders or what?
