Installation of Canopus VideoFx to Videostudio 10 or 9 or 8

Post by yeagy412 »

I recently purchased the canopus videofx program from the canopus website that states it is compatible with videostudio, after purchasing I am unable to install into any of the uvs versions I have, I spent 38 minutes long distance on the phone with canopus for them to tell me they cant help me and they will forward it to the supervisor we tried a fix they had me download it didnt work either, at one point the tech said maybe it only works with uvs 6 and I replied thats a few years old! Can anyone help?

I had the same problem. So I installed a Trial version of MediaStudioPro (version 7), installed the Canopus VideoFX again and then copied the file "VideoFX.vfx" to plug folder in VideoStudio.

Hi Yeagy412,
michaeltee wrote:Just FYI for anyone who purchashed the CanopusFX package for use with VS9, it IS also compatible with VS10. For those who missed the discussion of this plugin several months ago, CanopusFX is a 3rd party app that adds 500 user-configurable transitions to VideoStudio. In order to enable the effects, a plugin (VIDEOFX.VFX) must be deposited in VideoStudio's "vfx_plug" directory. For unknown reasons Canopus does not include this plugin with their software but several of us have it if anyone needs it. Anyway, just wanted to let y'all know your $50 investment was not in vain if you're planning to upgrade to VS10
You might try that it should work. If not do a search on the forum. Somewhere there is the discussion that Michaeltee is referring to.

Hi Roni -- you sent me a private email about this but I was not able to answer because your message had an invalid return email address. Anyway, you will need to do a search as has already been suggested. I don't know what Canopus is on about because they have the necessary plug-in, which is free, and which links Video FX to VS. And I confirm that it works in both VS9 and VS10. But I can't send it to you directly as I am currently away from home and won't be back for some days. If you find the earlier thread, Ilene (who was part of it) was the person who sent me the plug-in. You could do a search for her name, and send her a personal message to see if she would send the plug-in to you. It is a tiny file and as hmoennich has already said, you just copy if to the Vfx_Plug folder of VS. It will then appear in your list of transitions. You select the icon which appears, and then go into Customise to be able to open VideoFX and select the transition there that you want.

do i have to go through the process of searching old trial version of vs or msp in order to generate the videofx.vfx file ?

can someone link me to that file or at least a link for older trial versions ?

thanks in advance.

Can you confirm that you have the main Canopus VideoFX program? The plug-in is only a tiny bridge between Video Studio and the Canopus program, and is of course useless in its own right unless you have the Canopus program already installed on your computer.

Thanks for the good intention, but your link which i've already came across is talking about hollywood fx bridge file, my problem is the conapus plugin. small file to insert to vfx folder which is called videofx.vfx and is not generated automatically by conapus installer if it doesn't recognize a host app.

... And unfortunately, I am now away from home at my beach house for a week. And my computer here does not have the plug-in on it. So if anyone else with the plug-in can send it to ghsi in the meantime, I would be grateful.
