New Version of Video Studio coming?

Post by shoalhaven »

There has been some talk about a new version -- I predicted sometime in April.

Today's (Friday 11, 2005) Fry's Electronics ad shows Ulead VS8 at their regular store price of $69.99, less an upgrade rebate of $30.00, less a mail-in rebate of $30.00, for a total price of $9.99.

Makes me wonder. :?:

I saw that Fry's ad and took them up on the offer. Then (only after opening the package) did I find the *fine print* that says that bundled versions are *NOT* elegible for the upgrade rebate!!

I think this is dishonest, to say the least.

Any ideas about what I should do (other than take the screwing and smile)?

Hmm, that makes me wonder, I have VS7 SE DVD that came with my ADs DVD Xpress, does that mean that I can't get the upgrade price from the ulead website, do I have to get the full version for the higher price?

Ulead will happily sell you whichever one you want ;-)

If you want to upgrade, check the "Upgrade Policy" page for VS8. The VS8 *upgrade* package will look for certain previous versions of VS on your system. You should be OK -- I upgraded from VS5 DV recently (came with a Firewire card), no problem.

I think I have it worked out! Based on previous experience: my wife and I had a wonderful holiday in Jan/Feb 2004; after our return and a serious amount of editing the "masterpiece" was finally finished (VS7) by late Feb/early March. I really could have used the audio controls in version 8, which came out in - I think - April or May 2004 :!: :!: :!:
So as a public service, I am pleased to announce that we have another holiday planned, in June this year. Just give me until the end of July to have it all sewn up and burned to DVD, and I'm sure we can expect a new version with lots of bells and whistles anytime after that
