I am very new to video recording and editing and I need some really basic help, I am using Video Studio 8 along with a Plextor PX-M402U video capture device WinXP. My main interest is converting analog video from a VCR and then edit and burn to DVD. I am really groping around in the dark trying to figure how to capture video and save it to my hard drive. Is there any help or tutorial for the basics?

Thanks, Bob

Hi Bob, and welcome to the forums..:)

Is your version of VS8 a full version or an SE version that came with your Plextor PX-M402U video capture device?

One thing that you are going to find, is a number of us are going to recommend upgrading. VS8 was a very buggy program. If it is the full version have you applied all the patches and fixes?

Now for learning video editing, there are a number of good tutorials here on this forum: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewforum.php?f=27.
Also I might recommend as I always do Charlie Hill's Getting Results with Video Studio books. They are well worth it..http://www.getting-results.com/. Just click on the Previous Versions link and you will find one for VideoStudio 8.

Recommended Procedures is well worth reading to establish a good workflow and habits in editing with Ulead's VideoStudio products..
