Why don't menu's save?

I don't understand. HTChien was asking IF the version that someone was using was a pirated version. He was trying to explain why there may be bugs. That had nothing to do with the link that was given out by someone who got it from a ULead tech. I have a purchased version and it has a bug. And I STILL have not heard from tech support for the link. Is there no way it can be posted here???

Well yes, but that does not help people who have legitimate copies.
And surely if it is just a question of changing one file it can't be that difficult to patch the program so that users (such as me!) who pay and download the program don't have to go through the rigmarole of contacting tech support to get a file that should have been there in the first place.
Or failing that would it not have been possible to indicate on the Ulead site where and how registered users can download the file?

Everyone is assuming that the dll file supplied to that particular user is suitable for them. Has anyone stopped to consider why Ulead haven't released this as a fix.
HTChien - if you look at his profile - is a Senior Software Engineer.
He happens to be based in Taiwan and happens to be a Moderator.
Work the rest out yourself.
Now HT has warned that the dll file concerned might contain bugs.
It may be that the software engineers considered that a certain individuals problem may have been best served by a certain dll file still under development. Don't forget these guys know what they are doing and would no doubt have asked for feedback after supplying such a file.
I know that I was asked to provide feedback when I was asked by Tech support to try out something connected with PhotoImpact. As it turned out I informed Tech Support that the item I was asked to try out did work as expected and it was in fact later placed on their update site.

Well just because someone may or may not have an illegal version, those who have legal versions are deprived of what appears to have been a very simple fix to an annoying problem.
Quite frankly I can't see what relevance an illegal version has to the problem I am having with a legal version 5.0.0189.0 downloaded in the last couple of weeks!
And if there is such a simple fix why on earth can it not posted on the Ulead Support Site or on this forum?

Yes, this issue does not related with pirate/legitimate versions.
The reason I ask about version build number is because the version build number can help to decide if the problem is a side effect in a specific build version.
The DLL fix from Ulead Tech Support now is only a temporary fix for the issue. I personally believe it might be addressed in the upcoming patch.
Best regards,
H.T.

Problem saving menu's
I see the reply your are referring to, but the .dll fix worked for the latest build 5.0.0189.0.
Someone 'non-Ulead' was nice enought to e-mail the .dll to me, since it had been removed.
I read a bug about the .dll patch losing menu audio start and stops, but to me, audio is easy to edit outside of MF5. Saving work on menus is much more important.
I would recommend re-posting it. It's better than nothing at all.

Menu audio trim
Hi Herb,
The new DLL doesn't introduce this problem... it's already there!
I agree that audio can be prepared elsewhere.
But trimming that audio for the desired motion menu length is a vital part of the menu work, and it is done right there on the same panel where the length is set.
While on this subject...
Using a menu transition with a looping motion menu will change what you might have expected to use for the audio.
The clip and background audio in the motion menu do not loop from the beginning. They repeat at the position after the "Menu in" transition, because the "Menu in" effect is not shown anymore when looping (of course).
The best result is obtained if the audio "begins" after the menu transition, so it will start with every loop.
I don't know if I explained it well, but you'll see what I mean once you do it

Menu not saving
Just purchased 5.0.0.189.0 and of course the menus don't save....and now I'm supposed to contact Ulead and wait several days for them to send me a new dll to fix a problem that's easily reproduced, and they've known about for weeks. This is insane. Even more insane is removing the link to the file that fixes the problem!
What is wrong with the people at Ulead? If Adobe or Microsoft behaved this way they'd be out of business!
If some kind user could send me the dll it would be very much appreciated. Email address is in my profile.

Re: Menu not saving
I wrote this morning to the Ulead Support and one hour later I found an email with the new .dll. It works now fine.Dreamspinner wrote:Just purchased 5.0.0.189.0 and of course the menus don't save....and now I'm supposed to contact Ulead and wait several days for them to send me a new dll to fix a problem that's easily reproduced, and they've known about for weeks.

The response time would vary according to the problem. When I see users problems on this forum, sometimes the answer is simple and possibly been asked before or the user isn't looking in the right place. This can obvioulsy be answered without delayMsVikkki wrote:You are very lucky. I wrote to ULead three WEEKS ago (or more) and have NEVER heard from them. You must have an 'IN' with the tech's.![]()
Seriously, I'm very glad you got the assistance you needed. That is SUCH an annoying problem.
Sometimes a user places a question which quite honestly has all the 'Senior forum members' scratching their heads and then (time permitting) some of us may conduct a few trials before responding.
The same will be true of Ulead Tech Support. It is also conceivable that you might have stumbled across an issue that may require a software tweak - such as the dll file mentioned above.
