Why don't menu's save?
I am creating a main menu and some sub menu's for my DVD. I can create them just fine, no problems. And I save my project every step of the way. However, if I have to shut down the computer before I have a chance to burn the DVD, my project save's but without the menu's I just created. Is this normal? Is there a way I can save them instead of having to re-create them whenever I stop and start? Any help will truly be appreciated.

To create your own menu template:
1. Click Customize in the Edit tab of the Setup Menu page to open the Customize Menu dialog box.
2. Select Frame, Navigation Button, or Layout in the drop down menu to display the associated preset thumbnails.
3. Double-click a thumbnail to apply it.
4. To choose a new background music, image, or video, click Background music or Background image/video.
5. You can rotate text in the Preview Window of the Customize Menu dialog box using the rotate handle. To modify the text description, select the text and click Font Settings. This opens the Font dialog box where you can select apply text attributes.
Note: When working in the Customize Menu dialog box, use the Font dialog box to accurately resize text. The Font dialog box can also be launched by right-clicking the text and selecting Font Attributes.
6. To set menu pan and zoom effects, click Pan & Zoom. Select the category and your desired effect.
7. To set menu motion filter effect, click Motion Filter. Select your desired motion effect.
8. To modify menu in/menu out effect, click Menu In/Menu Out.
9. To save the menu template for later use, click Add to Menu Template.
10. Click OK.

OK, I'll do that...
You need to know about an important bug in the menus that is not fixed with that new umfnormaledittask.dll
The "background audio trim" settings (mark-in and mark-out) are lost whenever "Customize" is used to modify a menu setting. So the background audio trim has to be done again every time. Fade-in and fade-out are remembered however.
So if you use background audio and need to adjust the in and out points (selecting a part of it and matching the length of the motion menu loop), make sure to do this last!
How's that for a good tip?

Hmmm. Just in case one of the mods misunderstood, I'm pretty sure that "am BURNING as we speak" is referring to a DVD.
I posted this before, but while you're burning
I didn't check all the motion menu transitions, but "Menu out" transition MO_03 (name is shown when the mouse is over the transition) is shown correct in the preview, but it is rendered without the fading clip in the final output. The final output has a hard cut without the clip, and does *2* fades of the background instead!
This is nasty, because you'll notice the bug too late. So until this is fixed, you might want to "burn" a DVD folder instead and check it with WinDVD or whatever, before actually burning.

Unfortunately Admin have removed the link from that thread so we have to go back to Tech Support after all. I would have thought that leaving the link up would have helped Tech Support by leaving them free to deal with other bugs - but then I never can fathom Ulead.snoops wrote:Glad to help.
But actually I only gave you a link to someone else's link, and he got the link from Ulead who fixed the dll and put it there.

DLL fix link gone?
Someone offered a link to a fix for the 'lost menu' during saves.
In that re-directed post, the link to the DLL has been pulled by the administrator - why?
The latest download of MF5 - 5.0.0189.0 is still doing losing menu saves.
Can someone repost the DLL fix (the Ulead forum admin who deleted the original link perhaps)?
Thanks,
-mt
