I have thought about it and still i don't exactly know what is best to have the best quality.
I have converted the mpeg that i have captured to a DV avi file type 1.
That avi file i load in videostudio into a new project. I put in some new video's/photo's.
Now i am making a new avi and a mpeg2 file for a dvd to show my slideshow..
A new year arrived and i want to put some more video/ photo in it.
Now i make a new project and load the last created avi. I must cut some parts to add the newly video. When done i create a newly avi dv type1 and again a new mpeg for the new dvd.
And this repeating every year.
Am i doiing the wright thing here?
But when i converted the mpeg (captured from dvd) to a dv avi and load that avi in a new project, edit this and save the project (and also make a copy of it), then the project keeps the edited avi so i will also have always a recent file? The dvd i create is the backup. Am i wrong?
There is also no rerendering with this method.
insert media - dvd

You are correct here. The dvd could be your back up if you lose the avi file.surfer wrote: But when i converted the mpeg (captured from dvd) to a dv avi and load that avi in a new project, edit this and save the project (and also make a copy of it), then the project keeps the edited avi so i will also have always a recent file? By rendering, do you mean encoding? If so, then there will be no encoding of the dv-avi file, it will remain the same each time you save it. There will of curse be some encoding to make the dvd from the dv-avi file

Yes, i mean encoding. Only the project is encoding to the mpeg file but with the last method (alway the original avi but the project changes every time), i don't have to save the results every time to a new avi. I always use the same avi. The changes are saved by the project.
This method seams a lot easyer then the first.
