Comparison of MediaStudio to VideoStudio

Post by sjj1805 »

I have recieved the following PM but consider this to be an item of interest to other members of the forum:
DiscCoasterPro wrote:Steve, I still can't settle in on a solid worthy all around NLE. I'm back and forth between flakey Adobe Premiere Elements and a seemingly more solid Sony Vegas. Now with Uleads VS 10 things are leaning back to Ulead for more testing based on the multiple timelines.

I would like to ask you candidly, how much better (if at all) is the Media Studio program than the new VS10 and as important, is either a more stable choice?

thanks much

Here is a small example of something I was creating with the Smart Compositor Design Tool - a part Of MediaStudio. It is small but demonstrates something that can be easily achieved with MSP that cannot be done with VideoStudio

In this example I have only used coloured blocks but you would replace those coloured blocks with either videos or still images (or both!)
As for stability - Yes I consider MediaStudio to be stable.

Thanks for the speedy reply, I didn't think with the inclusion of Adobe, Sony, and a mishmosh of thoughts on UVS10 and MS8 there was a specific interest by posters. Glad you felt differently, thanks for posting it.

Steve, was that stability answer an equally stable as VS10 or more so statement? :)

On my machine both programs VS10+ and MSP8 (SP1) both appear stable.

VideoStudio is intended for the average home user who perhaps wants to get his holiday videos onto DVD or convert his VHS collection, create slideshows of the family photographs.

MediaStudio is more expensive but does more. It is aimed at the serious hobbyist or professional. Such users would include wedding photographers and people who make a living out of film making.

Here are two video clips you can see, that might give you some idea of the difference between the two programs:

This is a documentary promo/trailer I produced with MediaStudio Pro 8, using the Smart Compositor for the opening sequence.

This is a little demo I cut together from HDV footage, using VideoStudio 10.

Hope this would be helpful.
