No sound when played on my DVD

Post by Marlene »

This isn't really a problem with VS 9 but thought that perhaps some knowledgeable person can help me.

I made a DVD with VS9 and it plays and sounds just fine on my computer and on my travel RCA DVD player. However, there is no sound when I play it on my Toshiba combo. on the tv. Picture is fine but no sound. Any ideas why and what I can do about it?

Sounds like you used an incompatible audio format.

I've seen some of Ulead's NTSC DVD templates use MPEG audio (which isn't part of the NTSC DVD standard, but supported by many standalone DVD players).

Or you might have used AC3 audio, and your Toshiba doesn't include a Dolby Digital decoder. Usually you can see the selected audio format when you press a OSD (On Screen Display) or Display button on the remote.

I solved the problem. I feel kind of silly having posted this but this was the problem. I remembered that when we played anything through this VCR/DVD player we had to turn the sound waaaaaay up. About 1:00 a.m. I am laying in bed and decided that was the problem. And yep works fine just hadn't turned the sound waaaaay up.

Thanks for your replyTHoff.
