Hi. I'm having some problems with audio and hopefully it's just something simple I'm missing. I'm running Video Studio 9 (an SE edition, not a trial) and I'm trying to make a DVD from MPEG files captured from my Sony Handycam. When I open the MPEG file from Windows Explorer, the movie plays fine with audio but when I open it in VS9 and try to play it, there is no audio.
Here are the file properties...
File Format : NTSC DVD
File Size : 47,616 KB
Duration : 49.049 seconds
Video Type : MPEG-2 Video, Upper Field First
Audio Type : Dolby Digital Audio
Any idea why this won't play in VS9 but it will in Media Player? VS9 will play other mpegs I have but they aren't Dolby. You think it may be a Dolby Issue?
Audio prblem with MPEG and Video Studio 9

That's why.. The SE version is a free version. Dolby does not allow the use of its product in free versions. They require a license ( translates into $$$) to use any of their technology. So any product that is released as a Free, trial, or like yours an SE (Simple Edition) then the dolby is not included.Video Type : MPEG-2 Video, Upper Field First
Audio Type : Dolby Digital Audio

If you go to www.videohelp.com and do a search there for something labelled 'AC-3 filter', you can download a filter which will at least allow to sucessfully download your Dolby so that VS can 'see' ('hear'?) it. But of course you will need to convert it then to mpeg or LPCM audio as output for your project. Sorry I don't have the exact address of the AC-3 filter, but I am at a beach house for the weekend, and I don't have all my files on my computer down here!
