Nature of the problem:
Selecting and Opening a supported file format (i.e. .bmp, .jpg) from within Windows Explorer with Ulead Instant Viewer (eviewer.exe) as chosen default viewer. Ulead Instant viewer has trouble with path and/or file name spaces.
Examples:
1. M:\MMedia\bmp\original wallpapers\Windows2000.bmp
2. M:\MMedia\bmp\wallpapers\Windows 2000.bmp
3. M:\MMedia\jpg\American Idol\McPhee\yellowdress4.jpg
4. M:\MMedia\jpg\American_Idol\McPhee\yellow dress4.jpg
When browsing thru Windows Explorer and double-clicking on any one of those 4 examples, I'll get the same error dialog box: eviewer in the title box, and down in the main body of the box, a yellow triangle with an
exclaimation point, followed by the following text for each of the 4 examples:
1. M:\MMedia\bmp\original was not found.
2. M:\MMedia\bmp\wallpapers\Windows was not found.
3. M:\MMedia\jpg\American was not found.
4. M:\MMedia\jpg\American_Idol\McPhee\yellow was not found.
... and of course, each dialog box has an "ok" button, and the "X" in the corner to close out of the error message.
Again, that abnormality only occurs when browsing Windows Explorer. If I am in the main portion of Photo Explorer 8.5 SE (pex.exe), and choose "open in new viewer", the space or gap in path and/or file name is
not an issue, and the image opens fine. Likewise, when I'm in an Instant Viewer window and choose either the "open" icon, or File -> Open, the process again works fine, and the image opens normally.
Additionally, this double-click from Windows Explorer issue does not affect any other application, nor file type:
1. "wmv" opens in Windows Media Player as it should.
2. "xls" opens in msOffice Excel as it should.
3. "sc2" opens in SimCity 2000 as it should.
... with or without spaces in the path and/or file names.
... you get the idea.
So, it's not like the file system is running in any abnormal mode.
I've tried searches on and off Ulead's sites and boards, but unsuccessful. Although, I submit that perhaps I may not have used the right parameters.
This was posted to Technical Support a short time ago, but I noted in the DVD MovieFactory forum that a long-experienced board user stated that Tech Support responses to SE (bundled) versions were few and far between.
