Best setting for PC playback

After capturing my video from my camcorder, I play most of my edited video's on my PC or post them on the net. I need to know what the best setting is for PC playback. I usually use a resolution of 384x288 at around 1200Kbps. Are there any settings which should be used in either the capturing or editing to get the best possible quality for PC playback using these settings.
