Frequent locking up with VS9

Post by albertyork@email.com »

I have tried VS9 on three different systems. On two desktop systems with 3.0 gigahertz processors I am getting frequent and seemingly random locking up requiring me to use the task manager to end the program. On my laptop I am not having any problems. The lockups don't seem to be related to anything specific that I am doing that I can determine. One desktop system is a brand new system. The other I just recently wiped out and reloaded from scratch. All 3 systems are running Windows XP.

I've had similar problems with corrupt MPEG files. What format are your video files, and where did they come from? (Sometimes a bad/corrupted file will play OK, but cause trouble when you try to edit or convert it.)

It doesn't seem to be related to any particular file. I have had it lock up with MPG and AVI files, sometimes when i am simply selecting them. Other times it locks up during the rendering process, but sometimes I can restart it and it works fine.

In addition, I have never had any problem with locking up on my laptop, even if I edit the sames files. There must be some common element but I can't figure out what it is. What does VS9 require for its video? i have tired reloading Quicktime and directx
