Duplicating The Hsn Network screen for work

Post by Toppler »

Hi i am doing a movie at work for a publishing company and we are doing like in infomercial/hsn thing and i was wondering is there some way to put into the movie the count down timer in the corner of the screen, and the text display scroll bar that they have on the bottom of the screen on the hsn network with you the phone number etc on it? I am trying to think of how to do it and it is not coming to me so any help would be great!!! thank you

You'd either need access to the individual component elements before they are keyed by HSN, or you'd need access to a post production switcher with sophisticated masking capabilities in order to mask out everything but the individual elements you're looking to use. The only other way I can think of would be to create a large green piece of cardboard and place it over your TV screen, having cut it to allow only the shapes of the count down clock and the ticker to show through. Record enough of it on a camcorder and then capture it into video studio and use it as a chromakey signal. The problem would be that every time they change the shot and cut to a close up the shapes wouldn't work.

so then i guess there is no feature in video studio 10 that would allow me to do the scroll bars and stuff and just edit it into the movie :(

You could create a combination of overlays and keying signals if you had access to the raw component elements to play with. You could for example shoot your own video of a correctly lined up LED/LCD stopwatch readout surrounded by a chromakey color in order to create your own countdown clock, and you could create some kind of ticker like effect within Video Studio. A lot of time and effort though. You'd have to experiment.
