I'm trying to "squeeze" 3 hours of VHS video into a single DVD using the MF which comes with MSP7.
By selecting quite a big compression from the options (called something like half-Dv, I think...), it says that you can put up to 4 hours in a DVD.
The preview line says it will take around 3.5GB, but I rendered an iso file (did not add any other stuff, just a very simple menu and some chapters, not much of them). Unfortunately, the iso file is 4.8GB, and cannot fit in any of my DVD+R's.
Any clues of what I'm doing wrong? I searched both this forum and the MF forum without result...

Try this bit rate calculator. http://www.videohelp.com/calc
I'd suggest using a higher bitrate. D-1 6000 to 4000 VBR. Anything less than that and your going to start to see a significant reduction in quality. 6000 VBR will get you about 1 1/2 hours on a DVD.

Really don't know, how big is the file your importing?paicolman wrote:

Audio
The template probably used LPCM audio. Create a new Template, and change the audio to AC3 at 224kbps) -- make sure to select your new template for your project.
p.s. -- the resolution won't impact your resulting file size (Half D1 or Full D1 or SIF...), it's the bitrates that matter. Using a lower resolution allows you to use a lower bitrate (less resolution to encode), but you can only go so far...
