I have a menu with 6 buttons.. So.. First I wanted to ADD another button.. and so I did.. cut/paste, and bam, I have a 7th button..
Problem: Number 7 is not associated with that newly added button.. pressing 7 on the remote yields nothing.. while pressing 1-6 goes to the right clip.
Second issue is with changing the thumbnail of the button.. it's a non-moving menu, with non-moving thumbnails.. however, no matter what I do, button number 4 will not change to a new thumbnail..
Typically when I blow away the playlist button goes DARK.. then you can toss a new title or chapter and it picks up the thumbnail.. with this button, even if I blow away the playlist to empty, it still shows the old thumbnail.. all the other button behave OK.. only button #4 is problematic, and this was happening before I added the 7th button.. I tried changing button #4 to moving thumbnail, and it moves, but when i disable the moving I get the old thumbnail..
any way to fix these issues, or these are long gone bugs that everyone knows about except me...
Configuring buttons in WS2.232 (Thumbnail and numbering)
For the 7th button...
Drag one of the chapter thumbnail-icons (from the right side of the screen) onto that button. That should link the chapter to the button. (The thumbnail should not appear on the menu screen.) Once you have a link, you should be able to edit the playlist if you want to.
If the 7th button is supposed to link to a menu, drag menu thumbnail onto the button.
I'm not clear on the problem with #4. You may need to delete the existing button. Start with an unlinked button (an image, text etc.) Then, drag a chapter-point (or menu) onto it to get a link.

Your first problem: you wrote your menu has 6 buttons, but did you also count the home, the backward and the forward button? If not, your new button might have number 10 and therefor could not be selected by the remote control. If you are not afread using patching tools you should take a look at my tutorial here http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=12880 where I descriped how to renumber the buttons.

ok, regarding first problem.. i.e. button #7 inaccessible via remote, Helge's idea of patching did come into mind, BUT it's POST.. and can be messy.. but it did give an idea.. count ALL buttons.. and sure enough there where 13 in total.. so, if I typed #13 it played the clip behind button #7.. so.. I deleted all buttons above #7, and then WS automatically made it #7.. it automatically renumbers the remaining buttons it seems.. so that problem is solved.. I just added all the other buttons after wards..
regarding button #4.. yeah, I did unlink/delete all playlist, NO MATTER what, the Thumbnail always remains the OLD one.. Even if I link a totally different title/chapeter, it always retains the OLD thumbnail.. Short of deleting and recreating that button (and all the others because I want to maintain the order for remote control ease of use) is there any other hack (not post patching) that anyone can suggest?
I want to replace the thumbnail with something else.. and boy I dragged just about anything I can think of , ONLY that button behaves in that way..
believe it or not, this is the last problem I couldn't overcome, rest I solved with the search function and this post.
Thanks a million!

ha ha.. much easier than I could think..
add another HACK to the list.. how do you fix this thumbnail while retaining the button numbering? easy..
copy that entire menu and make a duplicate.
now delete all buttons including the offending one.
now make a new copy of button#3 to #4, it will behave nicely, and change the thumbnail to the new one once dragged a new video.. now.. simply go to backup copy of menu, and select button #5 through #13 and.. copy.. and paste into the original menu..
problem solved, in 30 seconds.
thanks.. to everyone.. next time someone hits this... you have both solutions!!
I believe that this copy/paste to another menu is a great trick to re-number button numbers for easy remote control access...
enjoy!

well.. thanks.. but nowhere in these videos does it mention how to deal with:
a) Button that *insists* on maintaining an OLD thumbnail...
b) A newly added button that has an unknown assigned number..
The video on "menus" says it will create them from "blank".. but that's not right, they are using a template..
the method I described above solve both these issues.. maybe Ulead should make a video on that
or better yet, just finally produce WS3 and let us decide the button numbers (with a right click, etc.) and many other such much long needed features.. instead of pumping more useless movie factories, dvd studio, etc. etc.
As far as I'm concerned this is the only software worth paying at the moment, but it's pretty old and lots of bugs.. not for any beginner..
anyways, thanks for the help everyone.. this thread can sleep now...

one more addition, if you attempt the button renumbering trick with cut/paste into another temporary menu, make sure to never use the bring-to-front or send to back the menu buttons or frames.. that has an impact on the ordering and will mess things up. If you have text on top of that button, bring that text to front.. like in my case, then numbering is easy to fix for easy remote control usage.
Of course if you use the standard menus provided non of this happens, but I added a few more frames, 6 is not enough in one window for me.. that's why all these issues show up.
