Video Studio 9 (won't capture video)

I bought this Video Studio 9 and it won't video capture at this time, I have a ATI video card that is working fine but the program say that there is no signal to capture.
I have a Sony (no super video) just regular cables, when at capture time it shows the ATI card but it won't recognized the camera.
Can anybody help ?

Well, we need some specs on your system like is the capture card analogue or firewire - what brand of camera is it, what type of camera, analogue, digital, DVD etc...

Are the drivers for the capture card installed correctly?
Can you capture video with another program such as Open VideoCapture or similar?

Some more details will be helpful

If it's an ATI AIW card, click on the ATI TV icon and see if the ATI capture software is recognizing the input from your camera. Make sure that 'composite' is selected as the input and not 'tuner'. Once you have made the necessary adjustments in the ATI capture device, Video Studio will see your camera. When I owned an ATI AIW card, I always captured using the ATI capture software and then imported my files into VS.
