problems importing from a miniDVD

Post by frustrated01 »

I have been trying for hours to try to import the files that my sony DVD camcorder burned onto a DVD. MY problem is that the files are in a format that can only be read by powerdvd, not Microsoft media player. I am not able to then import onto ulead videostudio

So what format are they?

Somebody might be able to help if you can tell us that.

Or what Sony camcorder is it so somebody can look at the specifications and work out what format it records in?

To add to what Peter has already asked, the BASIC questions here regarding the Sony DVD cams are:
"Did you finalise the disc?"
"Have you taken the finalised disc out of the cam and it is now in the DVD tray of your computer?"

The questions one should ask are:

1) what format is the disc in VR or DV (must be DV for reading from DVD device)
2) is the disc finalized - won't read except in the camera unless finalized
3) is it a RAM disc (like panasonic DV cameras use this type of disc as temp storage and CANNOT be finalized which is annoying)

this may shed some light on your problem
