problems with text in menus

Post by awp »

I just purchased Ulead PhotoImpact 11, having liked previous Ulead products and wanted RAW file support for my new Kodak P850 at a decent price.

One thing that's really annoying me is that the dropdown menus for File, Tools, etc. contain extraneous characters that are making them difficult to read. The characters usually appear where CTRL (for the shortcut) would have been in the selection.

For instance, it'll have something like "OPEN ??A?????A?11+9" Sometimes it'll even have directory paths that overflow and make even the selection impossible to read let alone the CTRL+O shortcut. I've tried a bunch of other programs, thinking it was a Windows XP problem that just started happening, but it appears to only be in the PhotoImpact 11 menus. Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem with PIXL. I had to uninstall, delete the two Ulead folders in the two different locations, and reinstall three times before the problem went away. I never found the cause.

Have you tried to use another workspace layout in PI 11?

Ok. I've uninstalled and re-installed several times and the same thing is occurring. Changing the workspace doesn't matter because the main menus (like File) stay the same and so do the extra characters. Could it be something in the registry? It almost seems like it's some kind of overflow from somewhere. It's really annoying.
