Is this normal ?

Post by AndyMP »

My DVD drive burns a DVD+RW in a very short time but takes absolutely hours to burn to a DVD-R. Is this normal ? I'm new to burning DVD's so maybe I am missing something.

The very first things I would check would be the DVD drive's firmware as well as trying a -R burn using a different brand of media.

It's normally the other way round because a DVD RW normally has a lower maximum burn speed. I haven't seen any RW discs that go above 4x but "R" discs go much higher.
