CANNOT Import - 0x800408ff(2303)/ 0x80040901(2305) *solved*

I have a home camcorder records on mini-dvd, one disk dvd-rw (mini) was not importing in VS10.. getting

Failed to open DVD.
Report ID: 0x80040901(2305)

Now.. how about that for a company that loves their customers.. CRYPTIC error messages.. so in goes 2 hours of googling.. and outcomes a bunch of suggestions .. tried them all, including playing with the LXDVDParser.dll file, replacing with version .121 (mine is newer at 1.1.19.126).. nothing worked.. ok, so I tried ISOBuster v1.9, then the on disk folder was getting this error on import:

Failed to open DVD.
Report ID: 0x800408ff(2303)

again, why print a useful message when you can get by with a cryptic one.. also tried this: http://www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS/, then started getting the first error again...

ok, at that point i looked using ifoedit and noticed that there are 17 titles on that DVD.. however, on the hard disk there were only 11!! Ok.. we have a problem.. So took out dvddecrupt 3.5.4.0 and sure enough it extracted ALL 17 titles! now, VS10 with either of the .DLL (old and new) managed to import all of the video..

lesson learned..

use DVD Decrypter as first option... Except... I have a bunch of mini-dvds that won't under any circumstances Finalize in that camcorder.. they have video on them, but you can not finalize them.. that means.. that dvd-decrupter can NOT read them, just says "empty CD", well , most software says "empty or invalid CD".. when in fact powerdvd as well as isobuster can play video and extract the content.. so.. second option on non-finalized DVD is to use isobuster.

now lets see if this video thing even works!! I'm *sure* I'll hit more issues.. it's just sad.. that it has to be like that, but it is...
