crash when loading 5gig mpg2 files?

Post by woeisme »

Hi guys,

I've been playing with the trial version of ulead movie maker 5 - but can't seem to get it to load large mpg2 files...in fact, the program freezes as soon as I even try to highlight them in the open screen.

I successfully authored a number of cd's using smaller divx files, but many of my files are tivo shows, unlocked to 5gig(ish) mpg2's [for a 2 hour show].

Is anyone else able to load large mpg2s? Nero 7 can handle them just fine, but it creates OS bugs and tries to integrate iteself into windows media player - bleh.

I'd love to get ulead working, but I've got to be able to work with large mpg2s if I'm going to pay for registration.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I think you need to convert those files to standard mpeg2 first.
Can't remember the links but there are conversion programs that convert the Tivo files to Program Stream Mpeg2 files.
I believe the problem is the files are in mpeg2 streaming format which is different than the standard Mpeg2 Program streaming format.

I know of two programs that are supposed to convert an MPEG transport stream to a program stream:

PVAstrumento
Project X

Both of the above programs are free.
