New User - Hopefully basic question
I recently purchased MovieFactory 5. I am new to making DVD's. I downloaded the manual and I have gone to the message boards and tutorials. I can't find anywhere where I can get instructions for making submenus on a DVD. Please lead me in the right direction.

Hi MsVikkki, and welcome to the forums..
Do you mean adding Chapters
The menu structure for DVDMF is Title>Chapter. So to create Chapters, you would go to the Add/Edit Chapters. There you can create Menus for your Chapters. You can choose to Auto Add chapters, or manually add them.

New User - Hopefully basic question
Thanks for the reply Vidoman. Maybe I am getting ahead of myself. I know WHAT I want to do, maybe I have to just wait until I get there. I have several clips I am putting together in categories. I can get all the clips in there... I just want to have a menu for each of the four categories I have, and then submenus under the four categories to list the clips I have. Does that sound like something I can do with this program? Thats what I can't find in the manual or on the boards. Thanks again.
Vicki

Hi Vicki,
I think I'm following you on what you're wanting to accomplish. If so this is how I would go about it:
Are we on the same page?

I think I'm following you on what you're wanting to accomplish. If so this is how I would go about it:
- The Catagories would be a Main Title, or video clip. You could choose to have all of these displayed on the Main Menu Page.
For example if you had Birds, Cats, Dogs, Horses as your catagories, then you would have 4 Video Files, 1 for each. Clicking on Horses would take you to the Horses Video clip and Play it, or go to the Chapters menu, where the viewer could choose which part of the Horses video they wanted to view. - The Subtitles, would be the Chapters. Each Main Title can have it's own Chapters. You would create the Chapters in each of the Main Video Clips.
Example; You could create Chapter Menu for the Birds, having it divided to say exotic birds, waterfowl, Hawks. On your Chapter Menu you could have buttons or text to select one of them.
Are we on the same page?

Thank you, Ron. What you describe is exactly what I want to do.
At the moment I have 21 separate clips that will be divided into 4 different categories. I can see where I bring in the clips. That's easy. I'm not sure if I'm making this hard for myself or not. I can make the first menu. I just don't see how or where to make more than one. Wait... let me see if this is it - if I were to JOIN the clips together that I want in one category could I then go in and designate the chapters? Again, I may be getting ahead of myself asking the questions but I only have a certain amount of time to get this done and my other program won't do it. Or I think it won't. I really appreciate all the help.

Hi Viki,
Yes you're on the right track. Join the clips that you want as the 4 Main Catagories, then create the Chapter points for each of the 4...
BTW, I don't have MF5, just MF4DC, and from memory from the Trial version of MF5, the method, workflow and path should be the same.
