P11 often crashes on my system. Why?

Post by peterle »

hello

Since some years i use PI and i think it`s a good product.

Now I bought PI11 and installed it on a new System AMD Semp 3400+ 960 MB RAM with win XP prof x64 US-Version an I use PI as the german Version.

A lot of functions don't work. No perhaps they work, but PI11 always crashes and then wants to send the debug file to micro soft. For example, when I want to print. I think it is no one of the fuctions, but it might be the environment.

Can You give me some hints?

Hi Peter, and welcome to the forums..:)

I'm curious, that you are running an US version of WinXP and a German version of PI-11. Since this is a new system (WinXP) I have to think that this might be causing the problems. Have you ran a similar setup prior to this and not had problems with PhotoImpact?

It also seems that there are some functions that don't work or cause PI to crash. Is it the same functions everytime, or different ones and random?

Also could you please complete your system information in your profile?

Thank You..

Hallo Ron

1. Thanks for the fast reply

2. my profile is updated (all i know)

3. x64 - version us: perhaps it was a mistake, but just right now, I have no time to change it. And there is a lot of software on the system. Is there a way to change x64 from us to german without changing all the other software?

4. It seems that the errors (crashes) occure at the same actions, but it seems that i find more such actions the more i use PI11.

5. I worked with earlier versions of PI on other systems. On this system it is the first time I use P11 AND it is the first Installation on PI11, that I use.

Thanks Peter

Try to backup & delete:
C:\Documents and Settings\<your_username>\Application data\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact\11.0\

Rerun PI and check if there's any improvement.

Hi,

No gdi32.dll is a Microsoft, windows System file. It is located (WinXP) in the Windows>System32 directory.

The specs I have for that file are:

Code: Select all

File Version: 5.1.2600.2818 (xpsp_sp2_gdr.051228-1427)
Product Version : 5.1.2600.2818

You can change Language layouts in XP. Go to Help in XP and type in Language and read on. XP allows you to install several languages. That may stop the errors with your keyboard.
