RAW support

Post by greenboy »

I'd love to see some RAW support for digital prosumer/enthusiast and SLR models. Some of these cameras are processing and saving their RAW files with 12-bit and 14-bit per R, G, and B - more quality/range - and manage to save the files smaller than a 24-bit TIFF would be.

Also would love to see some other color models/color space in addition to the more familiar RGB.

In Ulead PhotoImpact 10, select File->Import->RAW Import.

However, the file must be in .RAW format.

After you edit the image, you can select File->Export->RAW Export to export it back to the .RAW file.

Hope this helps.

RAW support is more than being able to load RAW files. Though that's good too : } ...Have you checked out the level and type of "film-type" manipulation that can be performed on RAW images in Photoshop? That's also what those extra bits per color are for. It's like being able to redefine the exposure and other settings without actually losing or altering the data at the deepest level.

Of course Adobe has worked with camera makers to get this happening....

Who uses .RAW format?

I have looked at the IMPORT RAW menu, but cannot make sense of the settings, or know how to use them for my Minolta camera. Do you know if this can be done, and where to find the infor mation on offsets, etc?
