Are you editing MPEG files? Not recommend to do that.. :o
Are they MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4? I'm not sure if that is your problem, but it may be, especially if you are trying to edit MPEG4. I don't know how you could get MPEG4 into VS7, since it took a plug-in for VS9...

Files are MPEG-1 (for VCD) captured from my analog camcorder. I've had no issues on this for the past 2 years. I've now discovered that once I click on 'open video file' VS7 just hangs. I've installed Ulead's patch for mpeg files. I've now uninstalled both DVD Movie Factory 2 & VS7. I recently installed Windows Movie Maker to use as an alternative but it seems to take ages to save as WMV files. Could it be clashing with VS7?
