Ulead VideoStudio 7 SE DVD Help Please

Post by music_is_life »

Hi! I have Ulead Videostudio 7 SE DVD and I have Windows XP Home Edition. I have been using this program for quite a while and everything has always worked. Well now when I go in the program I keep getting a message that says !Ulead VideoStudio then under it Load from Stream Error. What can I do to stop this from happening? That keeps popping up. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. Then I tried to repair it, but none of this worked.

Do you recall edding any specific new programs to your computer, or make any hardware changes, around the time VS7 started playing up? It would also be useful to have an idea of your computer resources, operating system etc. Does the msg only appear when you try to start up the program or during some operation of the program?

Nope I haven't added any new programs. Here's when it happens. I will click on the VideoStudio icon on the desktop. It will open and right away this message will appear. I will have to click ok several times cause the message keeps appearing. Then it will show on the right hand side where it has that drop down menu of video, image, audio, etc. It is on video and a bunch of these white boxes with a black X appear

Once you have loaded VideoStudio and closed the various error boxes try deleting those white boxes with crosses.

Close and re-open videoStudio. Is the problem still there?

Thanks for the suggestion but,I actually already did try that. It won't let me delete them. I can't right click on it to delete it or that error message pops up again. I can't hold the ctrl button it won't even let me highlight the boxes to delete them.

It sounds to me like you need to do a complete uninstall of VS7 from your computer, and I mean a complete uninstall which includes hidden files and a registry key. Unfortunately, I no longer have the exact file in C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information which you need to remove, as well as the identically named Registry key. I am hoping someone out there still does, however.

Our link for a complete uninstall is here:
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 5773#55773

As mentioned by Ken we could do with the
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information
for Version 7. If someone has it please let me know so that I can add it to the list.

Thanks Steve. I see, though, that your list does not include the InstallShield or Registry key file which pertains to VS7. I had the VS8 on file on my computer, but not VS7. Hopefully someone else might have it squirrelled away somewhere...

shankar, please do not double post like that, it just makes things confusing.
If you look back through this thread you will find the procedure for deleting the program even though program is not appearing in the Add/Remove Programs dialogue box.
The only things missing are the registry entries and the installshield info specific to 7, but it should be enough to get you through.

Uninstall problem

Post by shankar »

When I click on Remove in Add/Remove programs to uninstall VS7, it goes thru the motions and I get a msg 'setup has finished installing ULVS7 DVD in your computer.Click to finish setup." This is weird. Any idea what's going on? Shouldn't the message say something to the effect that all components of ULVS7 DVD were successfully removed?

The Installshield Installation information folder has 3 folders
3DESE7D4-TB88-403C-A3FD-2017A8240C5B
88F93347-OF9B-4FED-BA71-6C-A4CDFE61D
757AD3D4-036B-42FA-BOA4-96BD6F4605A0
Update folder has a file 505AFDCO-SE72-4928-8368-5DEA385E3647
Which folders do I delete?

Alal 4 above also appear in Key Local Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current version\uninstall

I've also got DVD Movie Factory and Capwiz installed in my PC.

What do I do next?

To determine which of the folders is the one we want, check each folder in turn and look for a file named setup.ini
double click that file and it will open with Windows Notepad.
At the top of the ini file you will see which program that folder relates to.

When you discover which is the correct one could you post the result here so that I can update the list in our uninstallation procedure post.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Success but with a rider

Managed a complete uninstall and reinstalled VS7 successfully thanks to the advice on this forum.

Everything started working for a while. Now when I use mark in mark out to trim mpeg files and try to save the trimmed segment, it goes thru the whole rendering process and says 100% complete. Then VS7 just hangs! The trimmed portion is not saved as a new file. What do I do now?

I'm not very technically savvy so I hope the more experienced will forgive some questions which might seem silly.

Thanks for all the help.
