Crashing when clicking "Burn Project to disk" (sol

Post by gregat99 »

Problem: When clicking on the "Finish" tab and then clicking on the Burn Project button (the top of the 3 buttons), the program crashes with an error in godmenudll.dll.

Attempted (failed) Solutions:
-Reinstalling the program, and all updates
-Uninstalling Nero
-Formatting another PC, installing windows fresh, putting on DVDWS, copying my project to that PC
-deleting all AVI's in the project (to check for corrupt movies)
-deleting most of the files in the project (to see if the sheer size is the factor)

I even went so far as to revert to a backup copy of my work from a month ago, when I know for certain that it was fine (just inscase my project file was corrputed). Even this crashed the program.

Solution: From the Start tab, go to project properties, and change the audio encoding under the disc tempalte manager to anything other than LPCM. This fixed it for me.

Hypothesis: Either a corrpupt MPEG file, or a problem with the LPCM codec on the...computers. Even a freshly formatted machine crashed. Switching to the Dolby codec fixed it.

IMPORTANT:
Ulead, if this wasn't your bulletin board, I'd tell you where to go for this one. You effers cost me a lot of time, money, and stress here by not supporting and developing your programs properly, programs which are unstable at best. Do you really expect to compete against other companies who invest time and money into keeping their customers happy through frequent updates and easy to access tech support?

I'll save my money for something better next time, this is the second time I've posted a solution to a major, unsupported bug. Ffor everyone who runs into this problem, there is my solution to it.

godspeed.

Hypothesis: Either a corrpupt MPEG file...
FYI - All of my crashes (and A/V sync problems) were been caused by corrupt MPEGs. It took me awhile to figure that out, because the files all played-back OK. A little bit of bad data sent to the video screen doesn't seem to cause as much trouble as a bit of bad data sent to an encoder or multiplexer. :?

In my case, the corruption was caused by editing MPEGs. Since I started using a special-purpose MPEG editor, ALL of my weird problems have gone away!

That does make sense, but I literally left my PC on overnight burning the file to an ISO, closed the program in the morning, and that evening when I went to reopen the project, that's when my problem appeared. Either Ulead did something to my work that caused the problem, or the mpeg gnomes snuck onto my PC during the day and edited files on me.
