Hi folks
I've been using DVD movie factory 3 to burn mpeg files to DVD. When I burn a single file to DVD, e.g. a movie or tv show that's 1.5-2 hours long, it works great--about 20 minutes and it's done.
But when I try to record 2 files to a DVD, e.g. two 1-hour episodes of tv shows, the program first takes about 2 hours just to generate video titles before it starts burning.
I'm starting with .mpg files created using Hauppauge Win-TV PVR 150, set to record to DVD Standard Play. This results in files of about 1.5 GB for a 1-hour tv show (unedited).
I use NTSC.
I've also unchecked "create menu", which I thought was what was taking so long. Now I'm just mystified.
I'll be happy to provide more information if necessary.
Thanks.
Converting Titles Takes Forever

I have the same problem
I'm actually just trying to burn off 3 * 15 min MPG files, but again it's not even getting to the files themselves - it's stalling on "Converting Video Title".
I have used WinFAST DTV to capture video with my Digital TV Tuner card, and that stuff seems to have burnt off alright. But these files, which were created in ADOBE PREMIERE 6.0 are having a lot of trouble.
What mine does is, it stalls at 20% of the first Video Title, and just sits there. It takes about 40mins to get to that point, and now it's up to 1hr 50min and has progressed no further.
Regardless, this should not be happening. I have tested several different things, but cannot come up with a solution. Could it be the title template that I have chosen? Something to do with the video?
I'm at a loss at the moment, and it's extremely frusterating.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Hoping for reply
I would've hoped that if others weren't having the same problem, then they would be able to post about it. It's strange that no one else has mentioned anything about this. It's extremely frusterating and I'm looking at other software that will do the job for me.

Sorry 'bout that but I have the same problem in a much extremer version. My pc (AthlonXP 2000+, 512 MB RAM, XP Pro SP2) takes for rendering (I'll creating a iso-file) 1 hour for 1% (16 hours for 19% only rendering ).
Would it be faster with an hardware encoder or is this only a software (Windows) problem?
greetings

Hi ddancona,
so if you are using the same hardware and settings for video capture in both cases, and you have the "Do not convert compliant..." checked (otherwise your first case would rerender too), then maybe it is a project setting that makes the program decide to rerender?
Or maybe you've joined the clips, added a transition, or some other changes?
Sorry for the dumb answers, but I have no Winfast hardware and just wanted to give you something to start with. Obviously something is different when you use 2 clips, because with 1 clip it works as expected. CBR vs. VBR files? Resolution different?

Hey Snoops
Thanks for responding. BTW, there are no dumb answers, only dumb newbies like me.
I have WinTV, but I'm not using their software for recording; Hauppauge doesn't have an MPEG setting that's exactly the same as Ulead's 2-hour format (DVD Standard Play, 2500mbps max.) Instead I'm capturing directly in Ulead, using the Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II capture plug-in. I'm setting up the project settings for DVD standard play, and doing the same for the capture settings.
I'm not doing any transitions or effects, just trimming the front and end of the videos.
Thanks again.
