How Do I set lower field first?

Post by stannmaple »

I've read that to solve some problems with video looking blurry or wavy, you need to set "lower field first" but I don't see an option to do this when burning to DVD. Any insight is welcome. Thanks

It's a project setting for NLE not for authoring to DVD.

What is NLE? I noticed video studio has this setting as well as many others and DVD workshop has only limited settings. Forgive me for my ignorance, I'm new to all this, but are these settings I don't need? Thanks for the response.

1) NLE stands for non linear edding, which means using a computer in contrast to old fashioned linear edding with scissors and clue.
2) please see my comments here: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=13585

So if you edit your recorded AVI or MPEG video files in Ulead Media Studio or Adobe Premiere, on the output/export you can specify "lower field first". Many DV recorded videos require lower field first.

If you rip MPEGs from DVD recorder created DVDs (to remove commercials or other stuff) then most of those files require Upper Field First. On MPEG files usually the Properties of the clip tell you what field it currently uses as first. Keep it that way on export.
