I have used VS since early versions and am very satisfied with V9, one of the first really allround excellent versions. I don't do much DVD and primarily edit MPEG files etc. for homepage use, primarily uncomplicated applications.
On the other hand, I'm currently caught in a terrible mess with PhotoImpact 11; anyone wanting details need only have a look at the PI forum here. The version upgrade to 11 was awful, some of the simplest, basic features like typing text onto a photo don't work properly anymore.
That would be off-topic here, except to say that I don't want to experience something similar with VideoStudio. What will I get for my money if I upgrade, hopefully not chaos? Should I stick to V9 since I'm happy with it or am I missing a lot of new features or improvements?
All the best,
Ralph
Upgrade from VS9 to 10 recommendable?

The major improvements were multiple overlay tracks, Dolby 5.1 surround sound, and more DVD menu customization. If you are fine with v9 and don't need those improvements, save your $50

Upgrading from VS9 to VS10 would not be worth it in my view, unless you simply want to have the latest version of the product. Upgrading from VS9 to VS10 plus would be worth it in order to get the multiple overlay tracks and Dolby 5.1 surround sound. It's a judgement call based on how you use Video Studio..

I never used V9. I'm a new VS10 user. But I can tell you I Like This Program. I think the multiple tracks is a very importanmt feature. Being able to overlay stills on top of my videos has been very benefical.
The program seems pretty stable. Not to say it hasn't kicked me out a couple of times. But usually on on start up. I'll open it up, Pick something to play and then it might kick me out. Start it up again and it's fine.
I think it was money well spent. Now for an upgrade you mighnt not think those features are important, but after you've used then you might change your mind.
