SUBTITLES - Quality, and Scaling Problems

Post by C2 Digital Studios »

I'm having some problems w/ subtitling:

1. Quality is not good - very aliased (both in preview and final burned dvd)
Could it be a font issue? If so, what font would be commended??

2. When I play back the DVD on a set-top player the size and placement for the subtitles is correct, but when I play the DVD on a computer w/ Windows Media, the subtitles are much larger and partially off the screen.

3. This one is very frustrating.....when I burn a DVD, the subtitles don't always show up......the subtile tracks are there but the content (text) is not.

Any suggestions.....Thank you.

Subtitling is an art in itself. IMHO, you must use a sans-serif character set, like Arial, Helvetia etc. You will get the wobbles on anything with fine serifs, such as TNR, Garamond etc.

Your item 2 is certainly a WMP issue. The files that are played are the same, no matter the type of player, so that if one plays incorrectly, and the others OK, then you know where the problem lies.

3. Not seen this.

I have seen this happen when the source files are Half D1 or lower. What is the resolution of your video files :?:
